Just a gorgeous cloche, this 1920s hat has a slouchy top of the crown of woven mauve horsehair or wicker which is criss crossed with tiny x’s all along each row. The front sits high and has a darker purple silk overlaid with a trellis design of the same fabric as the top of the crown. Above the trellis is pale pink silk with chain link stitchery and sage velvet flower appliques edged with gold thread chain stitch. Small front upturn of lavender silk, and the inner lining is a fabulous contrast of teal, mauve and pumpkin plaid silk with the center label showing a flapper figure and the word Helene. The lining is in excellent condition and the exterior is fine with some thinning and shredding just beginning to the purple silks. It’s not very noticeable at all and this hat will probably outlast us all. For a more petite head size, the hat form wearing it measures 21 1/4 inches.
