Original 1910s ladies bicorn cloche hat. With French Belle Epoque Napoleonic influences. 1910s Parisian Belle Époque Ladies Bicorn Cloche Hat: The crown of this beautiful hat is large and domed and made from ribbed sisal. This large brim is constructed with three wired frames covered in tulle netting black and pale peach. To the front is a very beautiful silk ribbon work trim in hues of pink, blue and black with tiny millinery leaves. Four small groups of millinery flowers adorn the brim at different intervals. An original hat pin is included in the sale. This is a very rare survivor, over 100 years old and still with such beautiful ribbon work. This hat would originally have covered a voluminous hair style, as a result it is a good size. A ladies M-L today. A beautiful museum or collectors display piece and still eminently wearable. There are some very minor breaks in the tulle particularly the peach element but nothing that detracts from wear or display but mentioned here for accuracy. The original lining is in black with ivory silk at the crown. Of an average to large ladies head size, approx. 22.5 to 23 inches. Totally clean and wearable.
