This hat is a tall toque of thin black felt, a sort of triangular shape, with a daring trimming of two large feathers wings and a wonderful metal brass? Owl head millinery ornament with realistic red glass eyes and beak. He is sewn on, not pinned. In back or is it the front?? is a drape of French netting. Fully lined in a sheer black chiffon. Narrow grosgrain ribbon band inside and the label reads J. Suzanne Talbot 8 Avenue Matignon Paris. This is not a reproduction or adaption, this is the genuine article, designed by Talbot herself in the very early 1930s. Can be worn with the owl in front or in back. I like it in front, although the label indicates he goes to the back. Do as you please! This is a genuine delight for the serious millinery collection. She studied under Jeanne Lanvin and once had a young Lilly Dache working for her. Her hats were very expensive and most were one of a kind. Alongside the greats such as Caroline Reboux, Georgette, Agnes and others, she was one of the greatest of all Edwardian and Deco era milliners.
