1920s Rare Deco Egyptian Revivial Flapper Headpiece
This stunning art deco Egyptian style headpiece is from my private collection, It consists of 3 lightly hammered goldtone metal bands that connect to a decorative brass circle. A loop of tiny faux pearls hang from a small metal bar attached to each circular motif with a green enamel drop in the center. While dancing the circle and the bar rotate creating a swaying of the pearl loops and green enamel drops. How perfect for the fast paced jazz age Charleston. The Charleston is a dance named for the harbor city of Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called The Charleston. The three bands are adjustable but. One of the end bands is. I tried the headpiece on several of my head mannequins. Adjusting just 2 two bands made for a perfect fit on all of the heads, regardless of size and hair style. There are no missing parts. The headpiece is almost 100 years old, a true antique with its natural patina. Please look at photos carefully and examine up close because the headpiece is not returnable.
