Original late 1930s/Early 1940s WWII era Turban. This hat is from my own personal collection, which has been exhibited in Museums, Fashion Shows and has also appeared on the Antiques Roadshow. Sadly, lack of space is reluctantly forcing sale of part of my collection. This turban is so cute with all the felt “squiggles” and flowers trimmed beautifully with beads. You don’t see very many of Ms Dache’s turbans these days. It is made out of some type of “nubby” fabric – it is textured but so sorry, I have no idea what it is – and a felt top on it. These hats are one size fits all – there is an element of stretch in the fabric but I would not recommend it if you have an extra large head, sorry – and are really flattering to all face shapes and hair colouring. Condition is Used – this is in very good vintage condition – however, there a small area of discolouration on the inner due to make up, which cannot be seen when the hat is being worn. I can’t see any missing beads. There is a designer label present for Lilly Dache – one of the leading milliners of the 20th century – 78 East 56th Street, New York which was the Lilly Dache building. This building was over 9 floors and incorporated her millinery, jewellery, clothing lines, beauty parlour etc and it opened in 1937. Oh for a time machine…… Lilly Dache hats are incredibly sought after for their avant garde design and very collectable! Please remember that this item is almost 80 years old and as such is a vintage item going towards antique. It may have an odour – which all vintage clothing acquires over time. I do not believe in shoving fabric conditioner sheets in with items – this does run the risk of damage on delicate garments and frankly, I much prefer the honest fragrance of a timeless piece rather than some hideous chemically induced smell. This item has had a previous life and at least two previous owners! If you want something that is pristine, then this item is not for you. Please examine the images carefully before committing yourself and if in any doubt, please ask questions. I do, in the interests of the environment, reuse clean packaging wherever possible. The carrier will normally be Hermes – I rarely use the post office unless for a small parcel.
