A very special vintage early 1950s hat from Elsa Schiaparelli, Paris. A lush black silk velvet Capulet style is almost completely swathed in layers of frilly extra thick and fluffy cream hued ostrich plumes. Lined in black taffeta. Label is ivory satin and hot pink “Schiaparelli, Paris”. Size is a sort of one size fits all, clutches the head, but a hat pin is recommended if you wish to tilt it. Dates to the early 1950s and is really quite spectacular! I show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
