This delightful Victorian hat was probably designed circa 1860’s/ 1870’s era and was possibly made in France. The lovely hat is handmade over a wire/metal frame, with what I think are jet black beads – placed over black net lace and embellished with lovely handmade flowers and an orange silk/satin ribbon. There are even what look to be a couple of lily of the valley flowers, so you can see that the hat is a work of art, a true. One off’ millinery masterpiece, which would have been an expensive, highly prized fashion hat at the time of it’s creation. This hat comes from a private collection of antique hats and bonnets, all from the mid Victorian era and I will soon be listing other hats from this collection.
