A very pretty, genuine antique Victorian hat. Dates to the bustle Era, circa 1880s. A tall chimney pointed crown, the hat is made of a dark blue (not black) straw braid, the crown wrapped in a dark blue silk velvet draped sash, a swath of lovely faded pink hued flowers, a large millinery brooch, and a gorgeous extra thick and fluffy cream hued ostrich plumes. Inside the lining is missing, but a remnant of the maker’s label or straw importer’s label remains. Small in size, that is it is narrow and tall, but the trims adds to the scale and are so pretty. A scarce example of 1880s millinery. Some age and fade, but still in overall good shape. I show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
