This is an exceptional late 1940s New Look hat from’Birdie’ 3 W. Formed in a fine quality straw effect ivory rayon fabric this iconic late forties wide brim’New Look’ hat is a sight to behold. A hat collectors dream piece, incredible to wear or display. With the iconic platter shaped beautifully with a dip in the crown at the back where a narrow velvet ribbon falls in a trail. The crown is entirely covered in green leaves and tiny deep pink/red rosebuds. The stems of the leaves and rosebuds is wound in a pattern making this fabulous hat even more striking. The interior has the original Hat by Birdie label and an inner wired head form that bends to fit the wearer and secures the hat perfectly. It may be worn straight or at a jaunty tilt.
