This amazing hat is an original one-of-a-kind, custom made Jack McConnell creation. Jack McConnell was dubbed the king of the milliners creating statement church hats that were particularly popular amongst the African-American community and movie stars. McConnell passed away in 2005, turning these hand-made, one-of-a-kind hats into valuable collectibles. These original creations were distinguished from his more mass produced hats with a single red feather tucked under the Styled by Jack McConnell label and are considered to be works of art. This particular hat is made of a black wool felt base and has a feather plume (in mixed shades of purple with intermittent rhinestones) attached to the side of the base. The interior of the hat contains a band embellished with a ribbon of brilliant gold lamé covered with layer of white lace ribbon. It is also unlined, which is customary in high-quality woolen hats as a lining is often not required. And of course, there is the hallmark white tag and red feather to distinguish this hat as an original, custom design. This hat was found in a thrift store with the interior and exterior in fantastic vintage condition and looks like its never been worn.
