A stunning antique French chapeau from Edwardian Paris. Genuine antique, all original and beautiful as can be. Downton Abbey Titanic era, dating to 1910 to 1912. Study and stylish, a classic over-sized boater silhouette, the hat is covered in a gorgeous lustrous creamy ivory silk plush with a rich panne’ mirrored finish. Wide brim is wrapped in a sash of silk satin with a “flower” of corded silk on 1 side, and a wonderful hand carved large mother of pearl millinery brooch that has a rainbow of colors in the light. Across the brim are 3 fabulous white ostrich plumes with long fluffy fronds that add volume and width and a soft feminine effect. The underside of the brim is faced with darker cream hued silk velvet. Silk embroidered lLabel is Camille Roger, 22 Rue de la Paix Paris. Large oval head size is 23 1/2 around the inside circumference of the crown. Crown is 4 high. A quite special hat for the millinery collector. Perfect to wear or display.
