1940s USA, Original Keneth Hopkins, flamingo pink bonnet tilt with ostrich feathers. 1940s hat by Hollywood costume designer and legendary milliner Keneth Hopkins. A stunning, Victorian Revival bonnet style, with over the top ostrich plumes in a gorgeous shade of Flamingo pink and trailing silk veiling. This wonderful vintage hat oozes Hollywood glamour. The custom label is KENETH HOPKINS Original. Keneth made some of the most beautiful hats for Hollywood films and movie stars. The hat is made of a French fur-felt velour, buttery soft, very pliable and supple, in a Victorian bustle bonnet shape. The colour is a true flamingo pink, a shade between coral, salmon and shrimp pinks. Across the top are two really huge and extra fluffy and frilly triple ostrich plumes (each is 3 plumes sewn together) that cascade and bounce in front like an exotic cloud. It has a similarity to a showgirl or follies headdress it is that dramatic. Ties attached are true French silk veiling, that look narrow but open up to over 18 wide. It is edged in matching silk grosgrain ribbon, a masterpiece of millinery hand workmanship. Keneth Hopkins hats almost never come to market, there were not many of them made. He died very young, tragically, in a house fire. While he was working in Hollywood, he designed hats for many famous movie stars, actresses, and rich women of Beverly Hills. His hats appeared in a number of famous Hollywood films, notably “Cover Girl” with Rita Hayworth, and also “Phantom Lady” in which the outrageous feather hat was considered to be the star of the film. It is in excellent true vintage condition, clean and totally wearable. Totally suitable for an average ladies head size.
