This here is a truly wonderful vintage 1940s hat by my favorite hat designer, Laddie Northridge. The label is highly collectible amongst hat collectors as Laddie Northridge was one of the higher end milliners in the hey day of wearing hats. This is a prime example of his work! Its a wide brim straw hat in a royal blue color with amazing flowers in varying shades of blue covering the top brim and under brim. Each flower has a small stamen and flower sequin. This mustve taken forever to achieve! The royal blue is paired with a plush forest green velvet band and a bow on the underside. Only Laddie Northridge would pair such colors. I owned a hat of his one time and he used lime green flowers with bright red velvet ribbon. He obviously loved mixing colors that an ordinary person wouldnt pair with each other! Thats why I love his designs so much! This hat is in very good shape with some of the blue fading on the crown. Whoever wore this hat wore it during the summer time because the top is slightly faded compared to the underside. So this was worn out in the sun. Maybe by the swimming pool!
