A magnificent and opulent antique hat with wonderful trims. A wide brim of sturdy fur felt with a beaverette finish (slightly furry) makes the brim, the crown is black silk velvet and in back is a stunning dark indigo blue silk velvet sash with lots and lots of embroidery, spangles and jet trims. A large and very fancy Edwardian millinery gold colored metal brooch adds interest to the back. Enrobing the entire front and most of the sides is a marvelous cream ostrich plume! Super long, extra thick and full with frilly ends, it is actually about 6 plumes sewn together to create this rich full effect. The plume is 24 long, the hat is fully lined in black silk, and the inside circumference is 23 around. A nice large head size. A grand example, and a true Titanic and Downton Abbey era millinery masterpiece. This hat is very well preserved overall and is a great find. Fits all heads, as it should be worn up on the head to show the upswept Edwardian Girl hair style. I show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
