A Massive, over the top, antique hat with wonderful trims. Genuine antique hat, from the early Edwardian era, circa 1902 to 1904, the Belle Epoque era. Loaded with huge and long ostrich plumes in cream and purple. Reminds us a hat worn by Mae West in one of her films. A plateau platter made of faux horsehair braid, silk satin and black velvet, sallow crown and very wide brim In front is a very thick and full cream ostrich plume, and a French millinery buckle of cut steel with a purple silk velvet center. In back are 3 gigantic and extra extra thick plumes, 2 cream and 1 pretty purple. They cover the entire back of the hat! There are 2 long hatpins hiding in there, to help secure the hat on the head. A grand example of this scarce style, and a great find for the hat and millinery collector. Fits all heads, as it should be worn up on the head, perched atop the hair, to show the upswept Edwardian Girl hair style. I show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
