1900s Edwardian HAT Wide Brim VELVET OSTRICH FEATHER PLUME Gibson Girl 21.5 Rare. A rare piece indeed! FEATURES: INTERIOR SILK LINING WITH VELVET THICK OSTRICH FEATHER PLUMES. A WIDE-BRIM HAT W/ A BLACK VELVET CROWN SET UPON A BASE OF LOVELY EMBROIDERED BLACK TULLE. THE TULLE FEATURES A SHEER FLORAL MOTIF, IN COLORS OF COPPER/BROWN AND BLACK WITH SCALLOPED EDGES TO BEAUTIFULLY FRAME YOUR FACE. Brim width 4.25. Inner band/size 21.5 (padded-so there some give). CONDITION: lovely condition, especially for its age. Notable issues: Some feathers have been repaired, faded or broken, or some may have been added over the years? Overall look of the vintage feathers is beautiful though, thick and fluffy. Some more modern rhinestone buttons had been added at some point which I removed since they were not original to the piece, which has left just a slight opening on the left side (refer to last photo) not really noticeable with all the feathers, and a feather could certainly be added to eliminate. Silk lining appears to be delicate, no damage two it. It appears there have been a couple of repairs to the underside of the tulle brim, Refer to last photo for up close details.
