A millinery masterpiece from legendary milliner and fashion designer, LILLY DACHE’. Dates to the late 1930s to early 1940s. A riding hat style, made of a sturdy yet supple black satin, with soft telescoping crown, with a masculine “top hat” silhouette. Lilly outdid herself on the trimmings, using a large, wide and extra fluffy ostrich plume in a gorgeous color of a pale teal blue, a soft blue with subtle green undertones. The same color is matched in the French pure silk veiling with tiny teal blue chenille puffballs! In back are a few small sprigs of teal blue flowers. Fully lined in semi sheer black silk, with her signature couture label, Lilly Dache’ Paris New York East 56th Street. Hand sewn, even the tiny stitches on the inside grosgrain ribbon band are hand picked. The veiling is like a cloud around the face and throat, and can be worn over the face or trailing down as you please. A grand chapeau, never before offered for sale, from a private collection.
