Vintage 1930s 1940s Amazing Black Fabric Red Feather Tilt Hat Leighton L97. Please see THREE additional photos below. This is one stunning hat! Black, tightly napped fabric rayon? Is formed over a wired structure, with side bows and pleating on the front of the crown. The tilt bandeau straps sport the same fabric on the outside, with Petersham on the inside. But this hat is ALL about the feathers! They are artfully applied, and the front section is actually sheared to create a clean line along the bottom and a gradual lengthening as you rise to the top of the glossy, curved fringed feathers. I’ve never seen anything like it. Matching feather pads adorn the rear. It is entirely hand sewn. Label: Leighton Des Moines, IA. Condition is very good. Minimal makeup residue inside the forehead area. Feathers are securely attached. Faint perfume odors (but quite nice, IMO). This is a unique and fabulous creation!
