Antique Edwardian Victorian Women’s Straw Hat, Jacket with Peplum and Bustle back. There are a lot of details and hand sewing on this wonderful jacket. Please see the pictures carefully. There are lots of hooks and buttons. The top half has many hooks and eyes. The bottom has has more hooks than eyes. I wonder if it used to hook up to a skirt? The inside of the jacket shows a lot of hand stitching. There appears to be a small burn hole See picture 6. The tail on the back of the jacket has had some stitching come off and could easily be hand sewn to fix it It does not show on the outside. The lace on the back of the collar is worn(See picture 9) This would make a great display piece in a storefront window. I cannot verify the age because I got it second hand; but it sure appears to be from the 1890’s. The hat came with the jacket when I received it. The velvet on the band is not an exact match to the brown on the jacket. The hat opening is approx. 7.25 x 7 inches. The brim in the front of the hat is about 2.5 inches The brim in the back of the hat is 1.25 inches. There is a little bit of staining on the inner band near the front of the hat (like someone’s forehead was perspiring). The velvet under the hat is in very good shape. The velvet on the outside of the hat is more faded than the velvet underneath.. There is a small tag on the had that says ADJJ. There was some brown netting that came with the hat that was falling apart that I will include.
