Antique Edwardian Hat w Rare Blue Goura Paradise Plumes Velvet w Jewel Brooch
A really unusual Titanic era hat. With rare exotic Goura plumes, taken from a bird of paradise in his mating glory. Dates to circa 1910 to 1912, the late Edwardian era. Dense black silk milliner velvet, a cloche style, with the plumes being held in a large glittering rhinestone brooch in front. The plumes vary in color from blue to blue gray, to cream to beige. Fully lined in black silk taffeta. Inside circumference is a large head size, at about 22 1/2 around. A hat with these plumes was a sign of status, as they were very expensive. A scarce and beautiful example of a style from so very long ago. Perfect for your Downton Abbey dress up affair! I show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
