ANTIQUE Victorian era HAT black SILK lace BEADS plume CIVIL WAR Bonnet c1880s
Original antique civil war era bonnet. Presented here is a beautiful original antique bonnet. This is all original c1880s, finely handmade, hand sewn. It is a bonnet with a boat shape to the crown. It appears to have some inner stays and a buckram inside for body and shape. The bonnet has a 4 1/2″ silk rosette on the side, jett beading on the front, lace appliques on the corners, feather plumes across the front, the velvet ties are 21″ long on each side. The hat is in overall excellent. Antique condition, clean, sturdy, one small hole on the silk rosette. The lining is good, it appears to be a cotton poplin. The bonnet appears to have had a. Silk ruffle around the edge with only. The hat is 9 front to back center over the. 17 over the crown from edge to edge where the ties are attached. This is a beautiful bonnet, rare to find a piece this age in such lovely condition. Truly a piece of fashion history. The written description is based on my opinion and observation of the item.
