RARE 1830’S HAND SEWN RED WOOL PUMPKIN HOOD W PAISLEY TRIM. ACQUIRED FROM A PRIVATE MUSEUM DEACCESSION. FULLY SEWN BY HAND THROUGHOUT. FASHIONED OF A RED WOOL BROAD CLOTH THAT IS TRIMMED IN BEAUTIFULLY WOVEN PAISLEY ALL AROUND THE FRONT BRIM WITH WIDER INSERTS ON THE LONGER MODESTY RUFFLE AND BANDS ON THE POINTED REAR. HEAVY RUCHED GATHERING THAT IS STUFFED FULL ON THE PUMPKIN TOP. THE INTERIOR IS LINED IN A BROWN COTTON WITH BEAUTIFUL HAND STITCHING SEEN THROUGHOUT. TWO ERASER SIZED HOLES AND THREE PINHEAD HOLES ARE SEEN ON THE BOTTOM SIDE WITH AN ERASER SIZED BLACK STAIN ON THE VERY BOTTOM RIGHT SIDE. THERE ARE TWO SURFACE STAINS THAT ARE FAINT ON THE SIDE HEAD AND WHEN HEAVILY EXAMINED, THERE IS A RING OF PINHEAD HOLES ON THE RIGHT SIDE JUST ASIDE THE PAISLEY TRIM, HARD TO NOTE.
