RARE French Edwardian Black Felt MOURNING HAT W/ Long Crepe Veil Shroud Vintage. This is a very scarce find! A vintage French Edwardian Mourning Hat with a huge full shroud veil made of crepe which is a special crinkled silk material made specifically for (and only for) mourning and funeral attire. The hat itself is thick felt with an upturned brim, partially covered in the crepe. The veil is attached at the front behind a large bow decoration. The veil is then pleated at the back of the crown and then hangs freely so that it can be worn down the back, of flipped over the face. There is a small elastic chinstrap to keep the hat in place. A beautiful and rare antique mourning hat in good clean condition. Veil length from front of crown 33 or 84cm. Width 37 or 94cm. Hat inside length 7 1/2 or 19cm. Width 6 or 15cm.
