1950s-60s Women’s Elegant Black Velvet w/Bow CHRISTIAN DIOR CHAPEAUX Hat Cap. VINTAGE 1950S-1960s DIOR HAT. Gorgeous vintage 1950s-1960s women’s rich, black velvet hat measuring, when laid flat, 11″ long and 5-3/4″ tall – interior head circumference is about 17. Designed with a wide stiffened band around the edge it is accented with a large flat stylized bow on one side. When fitted onto the head, the band opens to reveal a pleated, softly gathered top with button accent – similar to a toque design – reminds me of a garrison cap due to the slightly military styling. Bearing a large satin CHRISTIAN DIOR CHAPEAUX Paris-New York label, interior is lined in a sturdy textured rayon fabric and the interior band is grosgrain ribbon – you can see the hand stitching underneath the band. Condition is lovely with no tears, holes, pulls, staining or damage – there is a hint of rubbing on the edges of the ribbon center and faint compression marks – this is not wear, rather the result of flattening to the nap of the rich velvet from being stored flat – I think the nap pile will lift once it is worn again.
