3 TRUE Vintage 1940s Borsalino Hat & Hat Box
These TRUE Vintage 1940s Borsalino hats are OUTSTANDING! They were all folded up and stored inside Borsalino boxes. They are extremely soft and plush! We were uncertain what the material is? We believed they were Virgin Wool but one of Dad’s hat collectors wrote to us and he believes these are Cashmere? They are so very soft and easily shaped! He also believes that the pinkish one is more than likely from the 1930s and not the 1940s? If you are a Big Fan of Classic Movies these hats are just like the hats you’d see in all those 1930s-1950s Classic Films! Dad and I are both BIG fans of the TMC (Turner Classic Movie Channel). Whenever you see so many of these movies includes women wearing hats! Back then not only men wore hat but women were always wearing hats also. That pinkish one is one you’d see High Society Women wearing. It’s just really beautiful. There is a TMC a boat Cruise that we have some friends that have gone on. Of course everyone dresses appropriately and a hat like this, even the Berets would be a perfect choice for anyone taking that cruise! 2 are Berets and the other is a very fancy extremely plush ladies hat! Since Dad and I are NO Experts on Ladies hats we had to rely on others for help on these. NOTE : that collector thanks so much for all your help! Wrote to us letting us know was one of Borsalino’s finest women’s hats made Period! This collector directed us to the Borsalino website to show us that Borsalino still sells the Beret hats even today! The newer ones he says are not quite as good as these vintage ones but still great hats! The current ones are all made from regular wool. They stopped using the extremely soft Virgin Wool. And again these are all old enough to may have been made from Cashmere? And he says date to the 1930s to 1940s and that makes perfect sense. If there was just some way to actually the ability to reach in and touch these you would be able to feel how soft and plush they really are! So this is a great sales price! We would really appreciate it if whoever buys these would please send us a picture of themselves wearing the hat so we can add it to dad’s scrapbook. Dad loves looking through them! There are nearly 3 full scrabbooks at the time we listed these great hats! We are having a very tough time actually dating these but we know that the brand new ones come in a tube type container, not the triangle one. Read above notes from one of dad’s collectors. NOTE: there is a single Borsalino triangle hat box included in this sale. The 2 others fell apart each time we touched them they would just crumble. After steaming them to remove the creases from being folded up for so so many years the hats will NOT be placed back into the hat box! It better that way so the new owner will not have to steam out any creases! It will be ready to wear! Dad and grandson cleaned and then took their time steaming out all the creases after being folded for so many years! These will NOT placed back inside the box!!! So they will remain in this shape when delivered. So these were manufactured before any hat sizing standardization was ever agreed to. We are trying to measure them and they are all the same size. Yes we know the numbers vary but I had my wife try them on and they all fit the same. That Pinkish one is worn on the back part of the head, see pictures, it’s looks best that way and that was how it was worn. Details: we will do our very best with measurements! Berets are very standard as far as height and width because of the way it’s being worn. We added pictures at the end to show the size. Starting first with the Light Forrest Green Beret. It measures and fits a size 6-7/8 but could stretch a bit to a size 7. It will be snug until it’s broken in. It’s 11-1/2 inches long and 10 inches wide. Tan or Taupe colored Beret. It measures to a fraction under a perfect 6-7/8. Again just wearing the hat will stretch it a bit. This is that very fancy Pinkish one. Pictures 7-8-9 shows how this hat is supposed to be worn. It measures to a size 6-5/8 with the metal hat sizer but this is worn on the back crown of the head. I had my wife try it on and she wear a size 6-7/8 and it fits. If you have any questions please write to us. The shipper sent us a picture of the box sitting at the front door and it was NOT CRUSHED? We also discovered that because we were NOT in possession of the box it was impossible for us to file the claim. Thank you for your understanding.
