1920s Dramatic Flapper Feather Headdress Hat with Ribbon Ties One Size #1561. A 1920s original and dramatic black flapper feather headdress hat with matching silk grosgrain ribbon ties. The hat is constructed with curled feathers in a silk feather pad which is covered on the outside with downy small feathers. The feather pad has the remains of an original label, but nothing can be read on it. The curled feathers are longer at centre front and gradually decrease in height around each side of the hat. There are no feathers on the back. The ribbon is sewn to the feather pad right across, and the ribbon ties extend around the back where they can be tied behind the head. There are no major condition issues with the hat that I could find, but this is a vintage 1920s hat that is at least 95 years old, and there may be some minor signs of age related wear. There were some loose feathers which I attached properly, but more may become loose and need similar reattachment. The curled feathers are supple and soft and in excellent condition for age, as are the down feathers on the front of the feather pad. The hat is clean inside and out, and looks like it was not worn much, if at all. The perfect accessory for your 1920s evening gown, and incredibly dramatic, although, like all antique garments, it should be worn with care.
