Antique Woman’s Austrian “Goldhaube” Headdress from Linz. 13″ long x 9″ tall (adult woman’s size). Good, Antique Condition – missing sequins and beads; wear to yellow silk lining and tie ribbon; overall wear. This listing is for a very rare 19th century headdress from the Linz region of Austria. Such headdresses were worn with the traditional clothing in the region and were one of the most expensive elements of a woman’s wardrobe, next to her jewelry. The headdress is covered in thousands of tiny metal sequins, beads, and other metallic decorations. The way the motifs are arranged is quite incredible and results in very elegant designs. There are some sequins missing, especially along the bottom edge, but overall the piece is still very showy and worthy of any collection. The black velvet bow shows some wear to the edges, but they are often missing, so it’s nice that it is still included (attached with pins). These headdresses rarely come on the market, and are even less common outside of Europe. A great opportunity to add this early example to your collection.
