Dramatic true vintage Edwardian era dark pink velvet hat with ombre dyed to match feathered plumes. Oversized bucket shape with upturned gathered brim; wider side to side than front to back. Feathers wrap around the front with a larger ombre dyed feather extending off one side. Wired edge to hold it’s shape and sit neatly atop the hairstyles of the age. Based on my understanding of hat design the feathers are the front side however I can see that a previous owner wore that hat with the feathers to the back – either way looks lovely. No marked size, please see measurements to be sure! Side to side width: 11. Excellent condition for it’s age. Some minor signs of age most notably some wear to the nap of the velvet along the wired inner edge (doesn’t show when worn; see last photo) and 2 small worn spots on the top crown. Lining is in fantastic shape – no shattering of silk or stains. Feathers are not shedding. Presents and wears beautifully.
