Vintage CHRISTIAN DIOR Paris Fur Felt Hat 50s. Black and darker colors may appear faded, lighter or toned. This is due to the light reflecting off the surface of material(s). They are much more even in normal light unless otherwise noted. Modified Phrygian design hat (please note that the design is made to be worn with area to the right of the hat pin shown in first photo to the front, there is a small thread mark on inside of band for proper placement on head). Single piece of felt cut and blocked into the twisted peak cap shape sewn and finished by hand. Single hat pin with matching fur felt bulb end. Lined with black woven straw/raffia trimmed with willow/esparterie body and grosgrain(petersham) ribbon inside crown rim. Additional elastic cord inside hat may have been added later. We believe this to be from the late 40s/early 50s New Look era. Size: no size label Know your size! Just under 20 1/4 around at edge of crown, 11 1/2 across end to end overall Labeled: see photo (Christian Dior Paris, Please note that this is not a licensed product/New York label hat) Condition: Very Good (nice and sturdy, no moth damage, interior nice and clean with no splitting or cracking of lining/foundation).
