A very special and… Genuine antique, dates to the post Edwardian’Teens WWI era, circa 1917, and was worn on the Paris stage at the Folie Bergeres. The bandeau or headdress is made of an exquisite French gilt metallic lace in a rich gold color. This is real metallic tinsel lace and a joy to behold. In front and to the side are two stunning and huge egret plumes in a scarce color of salmon pink! The color is divine, and the egret plumes swoop and curl upwards for a highly dramatic effect. Under the gilt lace with the plumes is a padding of lace, and salmon pink felt, and in back are sewn two sprigs of thick velvet millinery leaves in pale pink. Closes in back with 1 hook and eye (rest are gone missing) and can adjusts to fit almost any head depending on where you sew the closures. The lace can be pulled down in front to cover the eyes, and creates a mask effect that is quite sultry. Another rarity from the that antique trunk full of French stage costumes and feathers, this is one of the last in there. I was saving this one for me, but time to let it fly. Very Moulin Rouge, darling and the real thing. So rare to find egret feathers in colors, and this pink is a yummy color indeed. You can add a brooch in front for extra glitz too. Clean, in very good condition, the plumes are excellent with no shedding and the lace is supple and has no tears. Please see all the over 16 photos below. I show it placed on a full sized, adult millinery head. The head is not included, Bandeau measures about 30″ long and in center front si 10″ deep. Plumes swoop upwards to 20, quite full and lush. The bandeau may need some light re-inforcement in back of the plumes as it wants to fall forward a bit, but if you pull the lace down on the face this helps it hold in place. I suspect the velvet leaves sewn in back are to give some padding to the piece for comfort in wearing. Would make a fabulous display! Thank you for understanding.
