ANTIQUE WOMEN’S HAT c1840’S GREY SILK POKE BONNET MUSEUM DE-ACCESSION
ANTIQUE WOMEN’S HAT 1840. GREY SILK POKE BONNET. Presenting a splendid women’s original silk poke bonnet from the early 1840’s era that has been de-accessioned from Rochester Historical Society museum collection. The hat is made of grey silk and has long grey silk ribbon chin ties and all hand sewn. The back is accented with numerous pleats and a back bow. And a back curtain ruffle. The bonnet’s opening measures 10″ x 7″ wide opened, it has wire ribs in construction and thick paper as a lining. The hat is in fair condition. There are no stains, no repairs, and the inside white silk lining is loose and shredded. No tears to the outside silk, few small holes on outside material, ties in good shape. Ties have a few tiny holes scattered about. Wire ribs coming though the silk in many places at front opening and inside back, exposing the thick paper lining. Overall this bonnet is in fair condition for being well over 200 years old. A nice addition to one’s collection and worthy of one’s collection. ANTIQUE CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES : HATS.
