From a whimsical and creative hat-maker’s imagination, comes this checkers inspired gem.. I’ve held onto this Bes-Ben style piece for many, many years and it is one very special piece that is difficult to let go of, from the archive, however, the time has come.. This unique toque-style hat is made of a rayon velvet. The sides are black, with the rim finished in a bright red velvet. The top surface was created by weaving together these red and black velvet ribbons, to create a checkerboard inspired style. This point is pushed further, with the use of small wooden chits meant to look like checker pieces! No labels or maker’s marks, so the mystery of who made it remains. Overall condition is absolutely mint, with no flaws or signs of wear to note. Please review photographs for full details. 7.25 in diameter across top. 20.25 around inner brim.
