French 1930s ladies Calot hat in black with florals. A beautiful Calot hat from 1934 the year of Agatha Christies Murder on the Orient Express. Calot hats are quite a rarity. This beautiful example is from 1930s Paris, constructed in black woven sisal. Constructed to be worn at a jaunty angle with velvet florals to the front in hues of grey/blue, a Deco halo with tulle and patent effect edging to the front and a bow to the back, the detailing is superb, as you can only expect of French millinery of this period. An iconic Calot that just oozes thirties French chic. In excellent true vintage condition, totally clean and wearable , size approx. Eminently suitable for a ladies medium/average sized head.
