VICTORIAN 19TH C BLACK STRAW TORQUE HAT W JET BUCKLE TRIM. DATING TO THE VICTORIAN 19TH CENTURY. FASHIONED OF A BLACK LACQURED BASKET WEAVE STRAW WITH AN ALTERNATE PATTERNED STRAW BRIM THAT CURLS UP. THE FRONT IS TRIMMED IN A LARGE BLACK JET BUCKLE WITH VELVET IN THE CENTER HAVING TRACE FEATHERS AT THE TOP. THE INTERIOR IS LINED IN BLACK POLISHED COTTON, NO LABELS. CONDITION: THE BRIM IS SLIGHTLY LOOSE FROM THE CROWN. THE BUCKLE HAS TWO CHIPPED STONES AND THREE SMALL SPOTS OF ABSENCE. A WONDERFUL PIECE TO RE-TRIM. NO BREAKS TO THE STRAW.
