This is a restored vintage wide brim Edwardian hat in a gorgeous purple velvet. The 4 1/2 inch wide brim is made of stiffened shaped buckram. The crown has no stiffness to it making it is squish-able, so it adds an extra bit of comfort when worn. It is decorated with large ostrich feathers which are original to the hat, in black and deep blue. Large sprays of vintage bird of paradise in black, olive tones and orchid purple grace the hat in a grand swooping fashion. The front has an extraordinary lush matching purple velvet bow that came from an Australian opera house ca. Non vintage silk hydrangeas add a fresh new look to this hat that make it a divine choice to wear to a Historical reenactment event, Titanic party, or Derby! The original lining is intact and has a label reading Stronge Warner Hats. This hat is in great vintage condition with the velvet still supple and no worn spots. Crown opening – 7 inches across.
