This is a beautiful, original ladies’ Victorian black silk bonnet lavished with lace, featuring a large black satin bow and satin ribbon chin ties. The bonnet is formed over a wire which helps it keep its original shape. Inside the bonnet you’ll see that it is lined in a brown cotton fabric. This may or may not have been a mourning bonnet, as black was still worn in fashionable evening garments and the lace on this bonnet is quite fancy. In addition to the bonnet, I’m including an original small decorative box of mourning pins. Some of the pins are still retained inside this box, as shown in my photos.
