Beautiful Early Mid Victorian 1850s to 1860s Quilted Winter Bonnet. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique mid Victorian winter ladys bonnet. The bonnet is hand stitched. The deep brown silk bonnet is puffed/quilted. There is a lovely brown and black bow that sits at the center back. There is a 3 ¼ havelock that is lined with a red and yellow plaid fabric with stripes on the edge and a brown and white gingham. The surround of the hat is tacked back to show a red puffed and quilted lining and a small part of the plaid/striped material. The interior is lined with a light brown fabric and two puffed rows of red fabric. The bonnet closes with red ribbon ties. This is an incredible early bonnet, made even more special by the red fabric, ribbons and fancy lining. This bonnet comes from the Buck family who trace their American arrival to the Mayflower. We try our best to describe the colors of our antique and vintage textiles and clothing as accurately as we can. The bonnet shows wear commensurate with its age. There are scattered small holes in the brown material. There is some staining. The ribbons show wear. The ribbons are antique, but we are not sure if they are original. We suggest that you chec.
