Original 1940s or 1950s Ivory or off white Felt Hat with magnificent feather trimmed with faux pearls. This hat is from my own personal collection, which has been exhibited in Museums, Fashion Shows and has also appeared on the Antiques Roadshow. Sadly, lack of space is reluctantly forcing sale of part of my collection. This WWII style hat is beautiful. It is made of supersoft peachbloom felt – there is a stamp inside on the crown but unfortunately I can’t read it – however, stamping felt is a sign of amazing quality! The hat has the most fantastic feather which is put through one of the folds and is trimmed with tiny faux pearls. Condition is Used – this is in very good vintage condition – with no make up staining on the inner band. The band does have a tiny discolouration due to age, but you really have to study it very carefully to even notice. As with all felt hats of this age, there are a few grazes to the felt but again, you really have to be very up close and personal with this to see them. The label is G Howard Hodge, New York. G Howard Hodge was one of the very best millinery designers ever and his hats are very sought after. Please remember that this item is almost 80 years old and as such is a vintage item going towards antique. It may have an odour – which all vintage clothing acquires over time. I do not believe in shoving fabric conditioner sheets in with items – this does run the risk of damage on delicate garments and frankly, I much prefer the honest fragrance of a timeless piece rather than some hideous chemically induced smell. This item has had a previous life and at least two previous owners! If you want something that is pristine, then this item is not for you. Please examine the images carefully before committing yourself and if in any doubt, please ask questions. I do, in the interests of the environment, reuse clean packaging wherever possible. The carrier will normally be Hermes – I rarely use the post office unless for a small parcel.
