1880s Antique Victorian Mourning Turban Hat Silk Crepe w Scarf, Jet, Bustle Era VG
A beautiful and well preserved antique Victorian era mourning hat. Genuine antique, circa the 1880s to 1900. Made of French mourning crape (crepe), dark black silk with crisp wavy pleating, this crepe was made especially for mourning period millinery and funeral veils. A turban style, higher in the front, with lots of rolling and ruching, and tiny pleating along the inside facing of the hat. Lined in black sateen. It has a removable black silk crepe scarf, a long black glass hat pin and a (removable) French jet (glass) mourning applique. Well preserved, clean and really nice. A lovely example of Victorian mounning millinery. We show the hat on a full sized millinery head, the head is not included.
