Antique Ladies Hats, 1890 – 1920s, Lot of 4. Four ladies hats, 2 woven straw, 1 plush felt, and 1 velvet. These 4 hats brims are trimmed with either cloth flowers, leaves and berries, or feathers, plush velvet, or ribbon bands. These hats were worn on top of the head and would have been held in place with hat pins. These early hats are in very good sturdy condition for their age, with minor age related conditions. FROM LEFT TO RIGHTLeft hat A black plush felt over hard inner covered layer to give stability and shape, with an adjustable draw string inner lining, trimmed with a white feather and a blue velvet band. Constructed with a domed crown top with ridge and brim. CONDITION The hat is in overall very good structural condition. No repairs, no fading of material, no stain damage. Middle left Hat is a brown woven straw trimmed with cloth millinery flowers and leaves, glass berries, and composition fruit. There is a black cotton adjustable draw string lining inside the hat. Under the lining is a cotton padding for comfort. Hat has a brown ribbon band. No holes, no repairs, some fading to blue satin, no damage. Right hat Antique Victorian Black Woven Straw Hat With Millinery Flowers and Berries 1890s, Label GNCo. A Victorian 1890’s black woven straw hat that has been de-accessioned from Rochester Historical Society museum collection. Both sides of the hat’s brim is styled with a wavy brim and is trimmed with cloth flowers, leaves and berries. CONDITION The inside has a black adjustable silk lining and lining has some shredding, small area of lining separation and small white discolorations. The hat is in very good condition. No holes, no repairs. No damage to straw. One area of straw separation, and easy fix.
