1940s BES BEN Snood Hat w India Mirrors & Shisheh Embroidery Bes-Ben Chicago
A fabulous hat from legendary milliner Bes-Ben of Chicago. This dates to the early 1940s and is WWII era, with a wonderful silk Jersey snood in the back! Hand sewn with Shisheh, tiny mirrors and glass beads and more tiny decorative treasures, the hat was inspired by textiles seen by Ben on one of his trips to India and Asia (he first visited India and Sri Lanka in 1934). Light fade to the Jersey and 1 tiny hole in back, but otherwise very good with no missing trims, no odors, no soiling or tears. He would later revive this Shisheh style in the 1950s, in a different silhouette. Please ask if you need more details. PLEASE SEE OUR AUCTIONS FOR MORE ANTIQUE and VINTAGE HATS, Clothing, AND MORE….
