Offered for sale is another one of the early bonnets from my longtime antique clothing collection. This bonnet is a scarce find and a beautiful, worthy survivor from the 1840s through early 1850s period. I love the form of these. Early bonnets with their romantic appearance and the beautiful way they are created to enhance the beauty of the face of the. This particular example has a straw base, covered with a pale spring green fabric that I believe is a silk/cotton blend as. It has a soft sheen to it. The original lace and floral trims, as well as the pale green silk ribbon are all-original as they were when. The bonnet was first made. The base of tightly woven straw is supple and has some give to it to retain its jinherent shape as well. As conforming to the fit of the woman’s head and hairstyle. It is in very good condition, seldom found in all-original, preserved condition. The bonnet has the faintest scattered age spots overall, but these are very light and do not detract from the bonnet at all.
